Only 5 days left, and I’m excited to see what my secret surprise is. The listing said 23 teas and this is a box of 24, curious no? I think in previous years it was a *potential spoiler alert* logo pin, and many years before that a felt blue bird. No idea where my pin is actually thinking about it. I put it somewhere so safe that it’s too safe.
A creamy matcha combo of cocoa & maca root!
Ingredients: Cocoa powder, chicory root, natural flavouring granules, maca, guarana.
In appearance it’s brown and powdery with a few small chunks of something or other throughout. It has a sweet sent and pretty much smells like hot chocolate powder.
Steeping Parameters: Whisk two scoops with 100ml of 80C water. Top with hot water.
I will be using the mini Matcha whisk that came with the kit.
Once steeped this brown, non foamy liquid bares a sweet yet earthy scent with hints of vanilla and cocoa nib.
Flavour is mostly smooth with creamy vanilla and stevia sweetness. It’s also a little sour and rather dry in the after taste.
Once it cools the toasted nut flavour comes through a lot more. I think the dryness also elevates the nuttiness.
I imagine as a normal type hot drink (ie milk, sugar etc) this might be quite charming, albeit expensive, but I would rather be drinking actual Matcha.
I’m finding most of these so called Matcha’s rather unimpressive. With comments on the Steepster forum from others I don’t think the feeling is mutual. They seem to be very hit or miss.
Hopefully tomorrow’s Matcha will be more well…actual Matcha would be nice.
Happy Steeping!
