Hello Tea Friends!
On Schedule now. Let’s see what Matcha is in my calendar for today.
Immune soothing turmeric tea in our Golden Milk inspired Matcha
Ingredients: Turmeric, cinnamon, rooibos matcha, ginger, black pepper
It’s another Matcha that’s not a Matcha, but I don’t actually mind the idea of trying this one. When I was ill several years ago around this time of year (you know, the sniffles and feeling sorry for myself) I went shopping (I was forced to after shutting myself in for so long) and that is where I met an interesting gentleman. In a medicine shop looking at the witch hazel he came over and asked how long I had my cold for. I replied, wondering why he was showing concern for me and that’s when he said that in India they drink milk infused with turmeric to boost the immune system and get rid of illness. Half a spoon of turmeric in a glass of milk, heat and stir thoroughly. I did just that when I got home and after two days I felt the world of better. Ever since I drink an arsenal of milk with turmeric and green tea with honey and lemon, luckily I don’t find myself ill very often.
Now you can see why I don’t mind trying this, particularly after feeling run down and on the verge of being ill. It’s just what I need actually.
The golden colour of the turmeric is matched by the scent of it’s dry, spiciness. Spiced chai like in it’s simplest.
Steeping Parameters: Whisk two scoops with 100ml of 80C water. Top with coconut milk.
I will be using the mini Matcha whisk that came with the kit.
Once prepared and the milk is added it bares a beautiful scent. Very much like a milky spiced chai.
This tastes beautiful, much nicer than I expected. The Rooibos is subtly sweet and it mostly comes through in the after taste, but matched with the coconut milk it’s not as noticeable.
The turmeric is dry but not overly so and it almost has a cinnamon like quality which is actually subtle ginger. I can detect the pepper too. Sort of refreshing and clove like.
Okay, I do like this blend. I didn’t expect to like it but it tastes nicer than the basic milk and turmeric than I’m used to. Plus the coconut milk was a pleasant touch.
I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s mystery Matcha.
Happy Steeping!
