Hello Tea Friends!
Day 14 can only mean one thing…It’s only 10 days away from Christmas Eve! Which means it’s also only 10 days away from the end of my calendar.
What do we have today?
Violet and cardamom matcha, inspired by Pantone’s Colour of the Year
Ingredients: Japanese matcha green tea, cardamom, lavender, natural flavouring granules.
This blend is subtle but I can detect the lavender with a hint of cardamom. It smells very pleasant actually.
Steeping Parameters: Whisk two scoops with 100ml of 80C water. Top with hot water.
I will be using the mini Matcha whisk that came with the kit.
Look at that beautiful foam!
It now smells sweet and floral, very violet and candy like.
Flavour is floral and delicate with grassy, crisp, violet tones and a dry, perfumed finish.
It does remind me of Parmaviolet sweets, it starts sweet and floral but has bitterness with a dry after taste… and I can never work out whether I like them or not.
It does resemble Matcha despite being flavoured which is a win win. As a non fan of cardamom this blend masks it well. It’s not that I hate cardamom, I just find it often overpowering and misused (especially in tea blends).
The after taste may be dry but it’s so floral and perfumed…it’s delicious!
This blend was more like it. I can finish this tin today with pure ease. I may even Christmas it up with a mince pie ^_^
Join me tomorrow for another Matcha review.
