Matcha Advent 2018

Day 2 – Bird&Blend Matcha Advent

md2

Hello Tea Friends!

Welcome to day 2, I’m super excited to see what Matcha is in store for me today.

If you missed day 1 you can find it here.

So…what lies behind door number 2?

Super Matcha

Super Matcha green tea powder with two additional superfoods, Acai and Blueberry!

Blueberry Matcha is not new to me per say (I’ve tried Blueberry Cheesecake Matcha from another company) but it was a few years ago. It still sounds rather tasty to me!

Opening the tin I can see the beautiful green hue of the Matcha perhaps a shade or two darker than usual.

As soon as that lid came off I was met with sweet and juicy blueberries with a dry, grassy finish.

This tin contains approx 3 to 5 servings of Super Matcha.

Steeping Parameters: Whisk two scoops with 100ml of 80C water. Top with hot water.

I will be using the mini Matcha whisk that came with the kit.

Not an awful lot of foam going on but I imagine that’s due to it being a blend of powders due to the acai. The foam I did create disappeared anyway after a few seconds.

The scent is similar to it’s raw form though not quite as sweet, though the blueberry is still very prominent.

Wow! My first sip was spectacular! Oodles of fresh blueberry exploded in my mouth with sweet and juicy notes before leading to a slightly astringent and dry after taste, which then lightens to leave the blueberry dancing on the tongue.

Even as it cools slightly the sweet tones are smooth and so easy to drink.

I didn’t expect to enjoy this blend so much if I’m honest. The flavour was so strong yet so good that I feel left out from not trying it sooner.

It might not have been foamy, but it was delicious!

Join me tomorrow for day 3, which Matcha will be next?

Happy Steeping!
